The core role of a Prison Officer is to work directly with prisoners and supervise the activities of those prisoners. In particular this involves the application of high level security and safer custody practices, good order and hygiene in all areas of the establishment. All prison officers are required as part of the core role to build effective, and supportive relationships with prisoners. This means displaying appropriate and effective interpersonal skills in their dealings with prisoners, and being proactive in resolving prisoner issues. Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced disclosure. Disclosure expense will be met by employer.
